The Chairman’s Message
The CLA thanks all its members for their participation in its
100th Annual Convention held at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth
Hotel in Montreal. I take this opportunity to acknowledge the presence
and involvement of all our exhibitors and sponsors. Many, many thanks
to one and all!
We are all aware that our industry is still struggling with a difficult
and painful business environment. The closing of many softwood and
hardwood sawmills generates a domino effect that affects company
personnel, suppliers and carriers who serve our industry. But these
difficulties can also be viewed as opportunities. By demonstrating
strength of character, tenacity, creativity and innovation, I am
confident that our industry will continue to strive. Have we not
constantly been challenged to excel, to seek excellence? We must
continue to keep the faith, drive on and exercise leadership. We
must be proud of ourselves and of the actions we take.
We need the help of all stakeholders to ensure the survival of
the Canadian forest products industry. Do not hesitate to contact
your Association. All your ideas will be given the utmost attention.
We look forward to seeing you all again in
large numbers at our 101st Annual Convention in February 2009. This
will certainly be a memorable gathering and one you don’t
want to miss!
