Membership Requirements
Membership in the Wholesale and Export Bureau of the Canadian Lumbermen's
Association is reserved to any person or persons, firm or corporation
who may be a wholesale dealer and/or exporter in lumber. Any such
applicant accepted by the Membership Committee of the Bureau as eligible
may become a member of the Association by paying in advance the annual
dues prescribed.
A wholesaler will be considered as a person, (or legal person
or company) all of whose business is the active and continuous buying,
reselling and distributing of lumber and timber products to retail
lumber merchants and/or industrial accounts, who maintains a sales
organization for this purpose, assumes credit risks and such other
obligations as are incident to the transportation and distribution
of said products, and whose sales in dollars to the legitimate trade
are at least sixty percent to others than his owners, stockholders,
partners, affiliated firms, subsidiaries, or to others with whom
he has a direct or indirect financial interest.
In the event of any doubt arising as to any person or persons
applying for membership being eligible, the matter shall be referred
to the Membership Committee to determine and the decision of the
Committee shall be final.
The membership of any person, firm or corporation shall cease
in the event of such a person, firm or corporation:
- making a general assignment for the benefit of creditors; or
trust deed or other general transfer or conveyance of assets for
the benefit of creditors;
- filing a voluntary petition in bankruptcy;
- being adjudged bankrupt upon involuntary petition;
- obtaining or suffering the appointment of a receiver on the
grounds of insolvency.
